[RESULTS] Fury Grappling 3 | Analysis And Opinion

Reading Time: 2 minutes

On Thursday 30th of December, Fury Grappling hosted one of the largest grappling events of the year in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The card had 12 super fights on it, and included grappling standouts Craig Jones, Nick Rodriguez, and Danielle Kelly.

It also had a number of UFC names on the card including Sean Brady, Carla Esparza, Donald Cerrone, and Clay Guida.

I didn’t have my best night of predictions, only correctly guessing 7 out of 12 matches.

Most surprising to me was Alex Caceres who showed a very slick back take and went right into a rear-naked choke.

Sean Brady showed that he can play a very technical game and that he’s probably the biggest threat to Kamaru Usman’s reign.

He’s very strong, has decent striking, and I doubt even Gilbert Burns could submit him.

The match of the night has to go to Clay Guida and Billy Quarantillo.

Guida came out in full wrestling gear and then put on a full pace match for the whole 8 minutes.

I will certainly be looking forward to Fury Grappling 4, if they can get the same level of the stars as they did for this card.

One change I would like is heel hooks for all fights.

Any fight that included a professional MMA fighter, which was all of them on this card, banned heel hooks.

Fury Grappling stated this was for fighter safety.

They exist in MMA, so I don’t see why they should be taken out for a grappling match.

Here’s how the night played out.

Main Event

Carla Esparza Vs Danielle Kelly – Danielle Kelly wins 4 minutes 26 seconds via injury from an accidental headbutt.
