Featherweight stand out Zabit Magomedsharipov has been absent from competition for the past two and a bit years.
Due to health issues regarding diaphragm spasms which limited to has cardio ability massively.
For a while, it seemed like he wouldn’t be coming back to fighting, as his condition has just been too difficult to compete through.
But he posted on his Instagram that on February 28, I will simply destroy someone, and his manager Ali Abdelaziz has stated that’s he’s meeting with the UFC this week to discuss Zabit’s future.
Now February 28th is a Monday but on the previous Saturday will be Beneil Dariush vs Islam Makhachev.
There are also no featherweights on that card and it looks to be finalised.
So I doubt this is what he meant by this Instagram post.
Possibly he’s having a grappling or a wrestling match to ease back into competition.

Now the ranking hasn’t changed that much since Zabit’s absence.
Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway and Brian Ortega are still the three best featherweights, and there are some now prospect waiting in the wings but no new title challengers yet.
Now the most obvious fight to make is Zabit vs Yair Rodriguez it was the fight that was meant to happen on three separate occasions but issues with both parties never happened.
Yair is the 3rd ranked featherweight and is coming off a loss to Max Holloway but gave a very good showing from himself.
Zabit has the star power and name recognition that he doesn’t need to fight his way back up the rankings.
I hope this fight is announced for a 5 round main event for a fight night card in the next few months.
I want to see if Zabit’s fixed his cardio issue.
